As the PR pointed out, this requires copyright-protection software and lots of memory on the phones... certainly doesn't hurt ASP's.
Is this an indication by QCOM that EV-DO won't support (live) streaming video reliably? And/or that carriers expect to be capacity-limited even with EV-DO?
It's also a move away from "cellphone-as-web-browser" and a move toward "carrier-as-content-provider" models, if I understand correctly. Seems to be a shift in the data-usage paradigm... perhaps some lessons learned from BREW?
