What I meant was that a HECK of a lot of people would have been happy with a few percent gain yesterday. I do however believe that a big down market does somewhat affect even the pinks as a person thinks twice about investing new money when he sees his portfolio value drop or in some cases with a big drop people sometime have to sell to cover a margin on other stocks. It happens.

When the markets are bleeding, many people will avoid putting money into them. They wait on the sidelines.

IMO, trading DOUBLE our record $$$ volume on a day like yesterday was significant.
