Stock option incentive plans are completely standard. This is much ado about nothing.

EDIT: And buybacks or other gimmicks are not what's needed. As earnings continue to ramp, the stock price will snap out of its depressed state.

kpf: I understand your main point - that AMD should be more proactive at boosting the share price. However if it were to buy its own shares in order to do so, that might not send the message to the Street that you desire. On the contrary it might imply that AMD is gerrymandering the market rather than attending to the reduction of debt and accumulation of cash for expenditure on R&D and profit making operations. In fact, it is rather more likely in the next year or two, that AMD will expand the float, not reduce it, by issuing new convertibles or other offerings to raise the cash necessary to expand production facilities and do some serious marketing.
