Looks like Dean would've been aware of this "super scanner" and probably checked it out, since it was unveiled at the RSNA.

#1604 RE: spunkman #1601

Spunkman,

It is just another CT scanner, though lower in dose. It is an apples and oranges comparison as I would hope all of the OEM's improve their CT products. They key differences to always note when reviewing suspected competitive technologies is how long to scan, how long to display a 3D image, access to the patient, mobility and cost. Remember 3D isn't new, it is real time 3D which will be used for interventional procedures as well as diagnosis, with the enphasis on intervention, meaning the Dominion Vi Scanner will be used to perform procedures to assist in placing devices, catheters into the human body. To do this requires imagery to be acquired and displayed in less than 1 second, the definition for real time.

I get at least one email a day with a new 3D technology and "the sky is falling" headline. Remember I am in the medical imaging business and have been going on my 24th year, GOD I FEEL OLD, thanks spunkman. I attend most major trade shows, scientific exhibits and recieve dozens of medical magazines and literature every month.
