VERITAS to Trade Under Symbol VRTSE on NASDAQ Stock Market

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VRTS--
VERITAS Software Corporation (NASDAQ:VRTS) announced
today it will begin trading under the symbol VRTSE effective Friday,
March 19, 2004. The addition of the "E" to the company's trading
symbol indicates that VERITAS has not timely filed its Form 10-K for
the year ended December 31, 2003, as previously announced by the
company.

Based on the delay, NASDAQ notified VERITAS on March 17, 2004 that
the company is not in compliance with NASDAQ listing requirements
(Marketplace Rule 4310(c)(14)). In accordance with the notification
and NASDAQ Marketplace Rules, VERITAS will, within seven days of the
notification, request a hearing with the NASDAQ listing qualifications
panel for continued listing on the NASDAQ National Market. VERITAS
expects the hearing to occur within approximately three weeks of its
request, during which time the company's securities will remain listed
on the NASDAQ National Market.
