Paul, it took me a moment to realize that SATA means Serial ATA. Those little black connectors against a dark green background pretty well blend in! (Next to the EP-9NDA+ silkscreen, for those who are curious.) They should have used orange, IMO.

Definitely my next system will use SATA disk drives. I really dislike the high-density parallel ATA ribbon cables!

EPoX Socket939 board. Note the interesting addition of 2 more SATA connectors next to the AGP port - for a total of 6!

Nice board. I have always liked Epox boards, although I seem to bounce between Epox and Asus. Looks like it is getting close for me to upgrade to an A64. I was holding out for 939.

Speaking of lots of SATA ports - How do you tell the BIOS which SATA port you want to boot off of? And, if you have both SATA drives and regular SCSI drives, how do you tell the BIOS which disk to boot from? In my particular case I want to boot off the regular SCSI drive if there is one, and the drive on the first SATA port if there isn't a regular SCSI drive.

I had a problem where I wanted the system to boot from SATA drive 1, and it insisted on booting from my "old" C drive, which was on the second SATA port. The only way around this dilemna was to mark the old C drive "non startable."
