The main product is the rear-view mirror digital video recorder. The flashlight is their second product. I'll address the flashlight in this post and follow up on the rear-view mirror product.
I'm aware of one competitor for the flashlight product. Below is a link to this competitive product:
The technical specifications for this product are inferior to the DGLY offering. Here are some comparisons:
Metric DGLY eye3data Storage 2GB(8hrs) 0.5G Recording speed 30 fps 25 fps Chain of custody Yes ? Pre-event recording Yes ? USB type 2.0 1.1
I also recall from reading the DGLY patent applications that there is some technology that they utilized to improve the recording capability at night. So the DGLY may provide better video quality in dark conditions. I think we would need to have a side by side comparison of the two products to better evaluate this.
There is also another Hong Kong company that is advertising a product that can be purchased in a minimum quantity of 1,000 units. It has 4GB of data. I doubt it has any of the features such as chain of custody and pre-event recording that are very useful for law enforcement. I don't think that this product is available for sale in the U.S. Here is a link to the product.
DGLY has a patent application for the flashlight product that has quite broad coverage. Assuming that a patent is issued, they may be able to put these competitors out of business. Here is a link to the patent:
