Don't forget to take your key
7/31/2007
This item was purchased from [...] in late May. The exterior is solidly built. The interior unit for the mechanism's electronics and mechanics are somewhat bulky, but not too visually overwhelming. Installation took about one hour with some minor chiseling of the wood on the door.

My experience is similar to breno4, Diogenes, and frequentbuyer. The unit operation is erratic and inconstant. The I spent more time in setting up the system, resetting it, and attempting to make it work than I care to admit to. It takes multiple tries to establish a pattern lock. I set up three users (all myself) for different fingers. The unit never recognizes a finger swipe on the first try. Usually it can take 5 - 12 attempts for finger recognition, if this happens at all. This is not practical. Doing this during bad weather or in an emergency is not an option.

The concept is good; execution is poor. If you have the unit then you have to be sure to always have your key with you. I have another door with a keypad lock that always works well. Until the sensor area on this unit is enlarged and the recognition accuracy improves, I would stay away from this product.
