Agree. But let's also not forget the other side of the coin, avoiding false negatives - true knowledge too quickly lost due to some limited thinking/evaluating process and/or, sometimes, the fear of false positives.

I have no problem trading false positive for false negative - especially when false positive has few consequences. But people should be consistent about it or they are making an epistemological error (i.e. no multiple look penalty makes for inconsistency and therefore an epistemological error.)
