#7098 RE: Mokyo Toe #7096

I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge, albeit subject to being proven wrong later. I certainly am not an expert in the record biz.

1) The album was not available for purchase until end of November, first of December, dependent on the specific distributor. It is my understanding that they will not publish sales figures until mid-January. Retailers, for example, are just now beginning to report December results. So I would expect that we should know results very shortly. My understanding is that it made the "Top 50" for Christmas album sales, based on orders received, but that may be a relative number, since I don't know what sales would qualify it to be top 50.......

2) I believe I was told (since I asked the same question you did) that NSHV clears about 50c for every download and $5 for every CD

3) No, the Perkins single is not available for consumer purchase, but that is not surprising.

Since you have an interest in the music industry, then you are probably aware that it is typical for a singer/label to release a single in advance of copies, in order to generate interest.

Kenny Chesney released his first single for his new album three weeks before it was available for sale, for example, to help build buying pressure. It played on radio stations and via video, such as CMT, well in advance of release. Without the publicity of air time in advance, no one would have known the album was out there. I therefore expect the Perkins single to be available sometime in February

4) Trimark is a process to prevent piracy, therefore it would be a royalty-based product (similar to what Patriot is getting with their royalties for the Moore process). Once completed, the company would then profit by licensing the process to their customer base, which would include studios in both the music and movie industry
