just speculation anyhow, but they say: 'Granted, adding television recording to the Apple TV mix will open up a whole new can of worms for Apple. More negotiating, more deals, more...time.'.

Again, this just does not seem to be someplace that Apple wants to go. No FM radio on iPods for example, except as an add on. Apple wants to control things through iTunes.

Anything is possible, but I'd suggest finding a different tree to bark up.

Well, they are certainly NOT controlling video distribution through iTunes at the moment. But they could go a long way in that direction if they are able to penetrate the market by selling 7 million AppleTV's after adding those extra features.
