In 1773, the new year was rung in by the men of Marlborough, Massachusetts, with a unanimous declaration:

"Death is more eligible than slavery. A free-born people are not required by the religion of Jesus Christ to submit to tyranny, but may make use of such power as God has given them to recover and support their laws and liberties... [We] implore the Ruler above the skies, that He would make bare His arm in defense of His Church and people, and let Israel go."

Data -- Connecticut's original 1639 document was first superceded and replaced by the Charter of the Colony of Connecticut in 1662 (which in turn has itself long since been superceded and replaced more than once) ( http://www.sots.state.ct.us/RegisterManual/SectionI/SecITOC.htm#Historical ) -- accordingly, Connecticut's original 1639 document has precious little if any continuing relevance even in Connecticut -- as it also had precious little if anything directly to do with how our federal constitution was drawn up -- just as the bible itself had precious little if anything directly directly to do with how our federal constitution was drawn up

if you really want to know which one source was perhaps the single most important influence on how our federal constitution was drawn up and how it structures our federal government, see my next post, a reply to this post
