I don't use them because I feel they show emotion highs & lows. But in charting you can use them if you use them for all lines drawn.

By that I mean don't use bodies for some or part of the line and spike tops or bottoms for the other. Many chartist will combine spikes & bodies to create a pattern they want to stress. This is wrong just like pumping or bashing on a message board.

Either chart the retail mindset during emotion or not. Don't mix & match to create something you want to see.

My answer , correct don't use spikes.
