But what if as a part of the merger agreement NVDIA agreed to spin out the ATI graphics business ?
If NVDIA takes the threat of integrated graphics seriously it has to act in the near future. It could be too late two years from now.
If nVdia does not act, it has to be very comfortable that it can provide significantly better performance than integrated graphics, and that the improvement is visible to the user, and that the mass market is willing to pay the extra cost of the discrete graphics unit. IMHO, a lot of unknowns.
If the AMD valuations plunge, it may be attractive for nVDIA to take out an insurance policy on its business.
