Interesting article. With 300mm wafers on 90nm and 65nm processes, Intel certainly has the real estate budget to do it.

With the exception of mobile it seems to me that going
two way CMP for x86 will put downward pressure on clock
frequency to stay within a reasonable power budget. I find
it hard to reconcile 31 pipe stages with multiple CPU core
devices, especially on the desktop.
