Goin Fishin

Like Alea, I am first a believer in evolution and the media will also, are also subjected to those forces within society. (Darwin's "Theory" actually answers more questions about more things than anybody else in history including Einstein and Newton.)Islamic terrorism and all the conservative forces aligned with the status quo are part of that environment as well as the technological trends that created the mass media.

These things can also be viewed as tectonic plates rubbing against each other in changing directions over different issues. The media will evolve its position to survive in whatever meta-worlds develop.

As regards the constitution, Jefferson would be amazed to see it still in place with so few amendments...He expected it to last a generation or two at best..... but then he believed in revolution not evolution.

I'll still stick with the Platonic models of democracy, aristocracy, tyranny...and then revolt and back again. I've often though that the American constitution has somehow found a way to keep those things happening over and over again within its own framework. One can see all three forces -- aristocracy, movement towards tyranny, and democratic revolt working in the forces of the current election process.

BTW -- if your not familiar with this site and are any kind of political junkie as I am, you might have fun watching the climate changes in the political world:
