Re:Deflation potential,,,Falling home prices are deflating the equity of many home owners...For many that equity is justifiably their largest asset...

$190,000 to $200,000 area of median price for homes is looming closer with the latest $207,800 median price for October...LJ

Echos.....very nice provocative and thought provoking post!

I'm not sure I'm in agreement with you(?)......but maybe I am? There's enough meat in your post to spur some "Big Picture" investment strategy and shop talk going forward in the future here amongst the board members.....hopefully.

Where do you see deflation or expect to see deflation other than your comment about crushed metals prices (when do you see this and why??)? So you see deflation(?)....but where other than the obvious real estate?

I think the Euro is very overvalued versus the US dollar. But the fiscal and monetary policy here in the US is completely hopeless(as it has been for years in creating this mess). But I could see the US dollar at parity with the Euro sometime in the not so distant future.....but what the hell would be the catalyst for this??

A surprise victory by one of the "so-called" darkhorses(...LOL! We're taking the country back!)) in the 2008 Presidential election?? That's what I'm guessing you're thinking for a US dollar rally?

Just trying to figure out why you feel the 2008 election will spur a US dollar rally??

I do see continued deflation in real estate all over the country. People just can't afford to spend a lot of money on house payments if everything else they "need" to live is increasing in price at a very healthy clip that is pinching their income which is stagnant at best. And real estate got extremely frothy and people are being "taught" that real estate doesn't grow to the sky(....oh the mindless masses!).
