-- Casio introduces new electronic dictionaries featuring Fonix text-to-speech. As part of an ongoing contract, Casio released 15 new handheld dictionaries in the Japanese and Korean electronics markets, with Fonix receiving unit royalties from each device sold.

-- Fonix supports new Intel(R) processor. At 3GSM 2006 in Barcelona, Fonix demonstrated speech interfaces for mobile devices on the next-generation Intel Monahans XScale(R) processor family, which is optimized for mobile and cellular devices.

-- Sun Microsystems endorses Fonix text-to-speech for Assistive products. At the CSUN Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference in Los Angeles, Sun Microsystems demonstrated Fonix DECtalk(R) TTS on its Solaris 10 operating system. Sun applications and screen readers for Solaris-based PCs can utilize Fonix TTS to "speak" text.

-- OC3 Entertainment adopts Fonix VoiceIn(TM) speech recognition for its facial animation software. At this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC), OC3 Entertainment demonstrated its new FaceFX Live facial animation technology for video games, which incorporates Fonix VoiceIn speech recognition.

-- Fonix Speech organized as a wholly owned subsidiary of Fonix Corp. As a separate subsidiary, Fonix Speech has greater flexibility to pursue revenue opportunities in target markets, form independent strategic relationships with partnering companies, and maximize capital potential.

Fonix Ranked Number 85 Fastest Growing Company in North America on Deloitte's 2006 Technology Fast 500
Fonix(R) Corporation (OTC BB: FNIX), an innovative speech technology company, today announced that it ranked Number 85 on Deloitte's 2006 Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in North America. Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over five years, from 2001 - 2005. Fonix grew 2,682 percent during this period.

Thomas A. Murdock, Fonix CEO, credits increased traction in the embedded speech technology market and greater acceptance of speech-based interfaces with the company's 2,682 percent revenue growth over the past five years. Overall, companies that ranked on the 2006 Technology Fast 500 had growth rates ranging from 210 to 48,948 percent over five years, with an average growth rate of 2,147 percent.

Fast 500 Selection and Qualifying Criteria

The Fast 500 ranks the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in North America. It is compiled from Deloitte's 16 regional North American Fast 50 programs, nominations submitted directly to the Fast 500, and public company database research. Companies are selected based on percentage revenue growth from 2001 to 2005.

Entrants must own proprietary intellectual property or proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devote a significant proportion of revenues to research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique was does not qualify. Base-year operating revenues must be at least $50,000 USD or $75,000 CD, and current-year operating revenues must be at least $5 million USD or CD. Companies must be in business a minimum of five years, and they must be headquartered within North America.
