doug, "let´s wait and see" is definitely the right way to look at it. Trying to predict a certain market share for Q4 next year or something similar would be pure guesswork. But the thing is, most of the numbers I´ve seen people throw around for that purpose just look so far out, so I thought it´s important to see where we´re starting. The same goes for the revenue expectations. Of course, Opteron sales should be nicely profitable. Let´s hope it will really take off!

I don't think it will be Intel's announcement that will ultimately be responsible for increased Opteron demand. I think it may ultimately be the perception of reduced risk due to major OEM support. Now it doesn't seem so risky to buy an AMD based server compared to an Intel based one. In the long run it will probably be perception that changes buying habits and stock price. We need some more marketing dollars right about now to capitalize on recent news. Anyway, being an AMD long, I'm cautiously optimistic. Now it's time for AMD to earn some damn money!
