CENTERTON - The mayor of Centerton resigned Wednesday, as the story of his double-life unfolded.

Former Mayor, Ken Williams revealed, that his real name is Don Larose, and he's been living for more than two decades as Ken Williams, out of fear for the lives of his family members.

"This sounds like a science fiction novel from the 50's," said Michelinda Smith.

She is just as baffled as everyone else in Centerton who received the news on their former mayor.

"The story is just odd," said Smith.

Turns out, Ken Williams isn't even, the former mayor's real name.

"Inside the cafe, everyone is discussing it. These people had trust in him," said Smith.

But that's been compromised. Williams, who worked as a pastor in Maine, New York and who's real name is Don Larose, claims he was abducted, in the 1970's, and had his memory erased.

Williams later moved to Hammond, Indiana with his wife and two daughters, where he became the pastor of a church there. But in 1980, he disappeared, again. This time, leaving his family behind for good.

"He was abducted, twice. He abandoned his family, he changed his name," said Smith.

The name he assumed was that of ken Williams, who died in 1958.

"Very confusing, surprising, mind blowing," said bystander.

Williams moved to Northwest Arkansas in the early-80's, and worked for a local radio station. Remarried, and later became mayor of Centerton, in 2001.

After the truth about his life came out today, Williams added a new chapter to his Don LaRose web site.

The City of Centerton is now without a mayor. City leaders will hold a special meeting November 29, to discuss who will replace Williams in the mayor's office.
