chipguy, then you remember Gene Amdahl's Trilogy Corporation? At the time it set the world's record for spending venture capital without bringing product to market. $400,000,000 if I remember correctly. Wafer-scale integration on a 3" wafer.

I think they must have had a yield problem.

I understand their corporate building, next to Tandem in Cupertino, was quite nicely gilded.

Wafer scale integration has been tried
before but has never been proven commercially feasible. ;-)

LOL. That was actually pretty funny.

I doubt we'll see 2GB L2 from AMD anytime soon. The biggest things coming for Opteron are faster HT and lower power and higher clock speeds on 90nm.
