#30664 RE: Footquarters #30659

FOOT..I have to agree with you about taking personal responsibility..I'm of the generation where my parents never even heard of medical insurance..When I was a sub teen, we even had doctors making house calls..Of course that was in a small town in eastern Washington..But we had to pay the whole bill..not a co-pay.I think one thing that makes insurance so expensive is the advances in medical knowledge. About 1/2 the people I know have had hip or knee replacements and these operations cost thousands and a lot of times they have the second or even third..Guess it's good..How many open hear surgeries do you know about..Probabluy 50K a pop..?? .But now the Gov't is asking people to stop smoking..that adds years to our lives..Remember when you used to work to 65 then died at 66..I think the greying of America is going to be the undoing of us all..We will not be able to take care of all the elderly..It is actually frightening..
