Long your looking at a cup & handle. Study that pattern;

As for when to own or not own timing. I just posted about that.

For a longer term trade or investment on exchange stocks. (1 to 3 months +/- ) 5,10,20MA show own the stock when they are in line 5,10,20 and don't own when they are up side down 20,10,5.

Cup & handles, bump & run, wedges, measured moves and the like are better for longer term. Chart pattern wise. And Macd, RSI and full STO work well when investing. And you looking for mindset. (what retail investors think)

The SARs is also good at this. own when dots are below and don't own when they are above. But this only works if the stcok is trending! Also if you want a quick swing keep in mind, with the SARs the last end of the Price vs. dots change point. The PPs runs to the dots.

So if you own because the dots are below, and the divergence is closing. The last move will usually be the price running to the dots. So you can get out a little early, before the change actually happens. And vise versa when the dots are above, you can buy some a little early as divergence closes.

BUT remember you need a trend for SARs to be reliable. IMO Sideways don't count.

For a short term swing under 1 month, the DMI rules, with short term chart patterns, like a flag, pennant, double bottom or triangle.
