#26966 RE: dougSF30 #26963

I am sure he won't be able to resist another drive-by :-).

I recently saw the webcast on Zdnet of Craig Barrett introducing IA-32e and the man was almost dying of embarrassment doing so, like wtf I am doing here introducing a clone of that cloning company's ! :-). What Semi has seemed to have forgetten is that Xeon has the lion's share of the x86 server market and he sees it at some sort of victory that they can compete on equal grounds with Opteron which should tell you how far AMD have come since Athlon MP, keeping Xeon and Intel on the back foot.

Any prospective buyer who does a modicum of research will soon realise who's cloning who this time ! Also every Xeon64 sale is an Itanium sale lost which puts back its plans for world domination. Especially when IBM release their 64-way next year. Nope IA-32e has ensured that AMD has a fighting chance of a long-term future. :-)
