My statement about the financials were not to just to indicate numbers- Numbers would be a major point if there were "showstoppers" or "Unexpected extremely +ve figures". They would provide shareholders with:
1) an understanding of the structure or inter-relationships between multiple entitites: in my old Corporate LendingCredit Risk days, I had to analyze maybe 10-20 credit applications per day involving multiple financials and sometimes a company may look weak or strong then be totally opposite when in conjunction with the consolidated financials of the entire inter-related company group- So I see it as a key.
2) It also indicates the mindset of the management on how they intend and have historically conducted business and how they wish to associate/structure the company.
