metal, I'm with you. Throughout history there is no normal temp when it comes to the earth. Periods have produced tropical plants at the poles and glaciers covering the US and Europe. Some of them have been due to things like meteors and volcanic activity, and others we're just not sure of.
The only thing we can be sure of is there will be change.
While human activity may be contributing somewhat to the recent rise in temperature, smarter people than I who understand the dynamics of the situation suggest trapped methane release is the primary culprit, and that it's like a boulder rolling downhill. Trying to stop it by altering human activity will likely prove futile.
