if they're "getting the shares" anyone with the ability to do so would be shorting the hell out of it right now if it was so.

If someone said to me "sure you're in for 25000 shares at 2.00" I'd be shorting 25k shares right down to 2 bucks, wouldn't you? You could simply cover with the shares from the offering upon receipt.
