Paul, wait a minute. Are you telling me that all the major databases *have* already been ported to AMD64? I knew about DB2, since that was a big deal at the Opteron launch, and someone recently clued me in on Oracle, but the others, too?
In that case, then I am mistaken, and I apologize. I am pretty informed on IPF, but I did not know that so much of the enterprise had already been optimized for AMD. Obviously, SQL has not been, since that depends on a 64-bit Windows, which has still not arrived. Oracle must only be available under Linux for the same reasons. I don't know about the others, but I'll take your word for it.
So I guess it looks like IPF is slightly ahead, since it already has Windows support, or at least I will argue that it is certainly not *behind*.
