I will give you the basics of “Click troughs” In marketing a product or service the more traffic you have the better your chances are to make sales which everyone knows. Company web sites have many different programs and one is to have banner affiliates by which a website can copy a banner with an imbedded code usually a number assigned to them for tracking and when someone clicks the banner it takes them to the web site. The code is tracked and the referring site accumulates points and is paid for X amount of points or “Hits” and in some cases if a purchase is made the referring site will get more points and in some cases are paid a commission on the sale. If a site like 11on11.com has one millions visitors a year then it can be expected that as much as 22% percent of the visitors will click through to another site, the better known products and services have been known to pay very well for there affiliates and they only accept hi volume or hi traffic sites and must provide logs to prove there value. A number of posts ago I outlines how one can obtain server logs but I am not able to find that post right now. There are several other marketing systems as well but this is the most well known and used. I see that some of the banners are for companies like UPS and very large retailers. They would not be allowed to put up there banners if they were not worth wile as an affiliate which is a good indication that they are large traffic volume site. Hope this answers your question.
