Heck, just a little while ago, 4 different teams at Intel said it wasn't even economically feasible to extend the x86 ISA to 64 bits.

Besides, if it were as trivial as it's being made out to be, then it would be all that much more irresponsible for Intel to have headed down the multi-billion dollar IPF path. They could have been raking in the 64-bit commodity bucks for years.

So I guess Intel doesn't agree with their own boosters here that AMD64 is such a trivial extension...

HM: If Intel markets it as IA-32E, I think it will only hurt them to not identify it clearly a 64-bit capable processor. Maybe not today, but within a year or so. Perhaps by then they'll have a better marketing name for it.

OK. In a year or two, for lack of a better name, why not call it... let's see....
