I think FictionNotFacts is very angry today and is venting steam, I'm beginning to think that these people all work for AMD though.

I expect that he would be upset. AMD has just lost their pricing edge for x86-64. They have a oversized die that is difficult to produce, a single moderate sized fab which has to perform multiple functions such as run 130nm bulk silicon, 130nm SOI and new process development. The demand for their products is somewhat limited and now Intel has erased their only advantage, 64 bits. Intel's 300mm fabs, 90nm process and much smaller die means AMD has no choice but to revert to their old status, bottom feeder. What will they sell off next? At any moment Intel can enable 64-bits on the desktop with the blast of a fuse. A price war is bound to ensue and AMD can't possibly compete. It's no wonder he's upset.

Some of us have know about this for a loooooong time but kept tight lipped. You might wonder what else we know but won't talk about......
