#22654 RE: TopHat #22652

Not a problem at all. Would add that the pipe that I had quoted was standard and is a general rule of thumb. If XH is needed- the cost will be significantly higher. If a pipeline runs through a high populated area (such as a town)- the requirements are also more stringent and costly.

Not sure if it's the same in the Mesa area but many of the companies in the Powder River Basin (Coal Bed Methane) use poly pipe to help cut costs. I can do some checking on what the Mesa area requires.

CBM wells are low pressure. SDR11 rated pipe is the most common poly pipe and is rated at 600 psi. Many producers use poly pipe from the well head and trunk into several lines until the gas is at or near a compressor. Some companies tried using "line pipe" (steel) exiting the compressor with poly in the middle (between compressors where the pressures drop during transportation) as a way to save money. The friction is much higher with poly pipe and they ended up replacing the poly pipe with line pipe so they could boost at higher/more efficient pressures.
