#14310 RE: the big guy #14280

Thanks for joining the discussion on the board, mr. "big guy." The stock market is about being consistent over the long term. I've had periods where I could do no wrong and made a ton of money. I started to believe that "I could do no wrong" and got my ass handed to me in a big way. I also spent alot of time on the boards telling people how "I could do no wrong." I ate alot of words..... but I learned to both invest better, and keep my mouth shut since I've proven to myself I can do alot wrong. You sound alot like me during my "could do not wrong" period. Hopefully, you'll miss out on the lessons where you get your ass handed to you.

I like buying companies with long term growth potential to hold them long term, or until something goes wrong. I'm also (still) learning that it's a good idea to sell a portion of your holding to reduce exposure. But, it's all about what works for you.

Regarding uWink. The offering has been a mess. I'm not a big fan of Merriman - nothing I've heard about them has impressed me - but uWink chose them to do their offering. They either need to close it - or uWink should move on. The uncertainty about the offering is hurting the stock.

What happens when the offering closes is anyone's guess. I personally think the price of the stock is more tied to the exposure uWink should receive for adding more stores than the offering. Their restaurant concept is working very well - but hardly anyone knows about it. They need to get the word out better.

I've been hearing great things about the 1st restaurant. People are having an absolute blast - and are coming back again and again. It's appealing to all age groups. They are booking tons of parties and have a great bar crowd. The concept also keeps getting better as they add new games and food. The concept is a hit - and the other restaurants should be even bigger hits as they tweak the layout and move into better locations.

They are also saying they will become profitable with three (3) restaurants.

So, to uWink, please get the money and get moving on the new stores. To "the big man" take a closer look at the restaurant concept and maybe you'll see why we like this - regardless of how you view it's short term potential.
