Re: OT To Meme-Hugely OT Back At Ya

It's funny you should ask, it was a most peculiar, but enjoyable weekend. It was actually an early Thanksgiving with my aunt, uncle and cousins who live in New Hampshire. They are my closest family.

Through some sort of miscommunication, or simply because my aunt is a bit of a ditz and perhaps didn't want to work as hard, she told everyone that I wanted her famous spaghetti and meatballs for dinner instead.

You can't imagine my surprise when I walked through the breezeway and into the kitchen to find two pots of sauce on the stove and hear her announce that instead of turkey, we've having spaghetti and meatballs. I thought she was joking and laughed, but she was quite serious.

My cousin, Kathleen, with whom I am very close, later disclosed to me that her mom had told everyone that it was me who wanted the spaghetti dinner. I spent half the day doing spin-control as most everyone was incredibly disappointed, but didn't want to hurt my aunt's feelings or mine. LOL

It's rather funny also that I should return to a conversation about the Beatles. During my teen years, I would often spend several summer weeks with my New Hampshire relatives. My aunt went on a whole trip down memory lane about the abominable clothing I wore as a teenager. Mind you, I didn't become a teenager till the seventies, but the hippie influence was still strong. I think my aunt and uncle thought of the Beatles as commies back then. <G>

And nobody dared discuss politics this weekend. My uncle is the Archie Bunker type. You can only guess how opposite we are when it comes to the election and its various issues. His temper is infamous and when confronted with logical argument that he can't intelligently respond to, he simply blows up! Even as opposite as we are, I'd still like to keep him in this world. <VBG>
