iMovie 7 is the 'problem' : solution

Apple let's you download iMovie 6. It has some decent editing capabilities. Probably all you need, maybe add a few plug-ins for fun.

Apparently, version 7 was redesigned for the 'get it to finished fast with minimal editing' crowd. But it left the 'I want to fine-tune this' crowd behind.
