If Barcelona is such a flop why are customers making teraflop supercomputers out of it with clock speeds well below what they can get from Intel ?
Opteron's strongest market has always been HPC given the low pricing of its 2xxx SKUs and good memory performance. Initial sales of Barc into HPC is a dog bites man story.
The real question is how can AMD keep whatever toeholds it has managed to gain in non-HPC server segments with K8 given the Barc's lower clock rate than K8 and limited set of non-FP improvements.
