When people buy shares at the bid... (and the MMs want to walk it down) the price drops. IMO to say that every trade is a buy and a sell is far too simplistic. MMs maintain an inventory and create liquidity when they buy and sell into and out of their position. Hedge funds and MMs naked short on a daily basis for fun and profit. Every trade is a buy and a sell, but not a valid indication of supply and demand. In this market, manipulation sucks millions of dollars out of retail investors' pockets every year.
