My novice thoughts.....

If it is happening to others as much as you have found, the problem and-or solution has to lie in whatever differences there are between the old hardware and the new hardware: some part of that difference must be conflicted with execution of the software -- either individually or aggregately. This ultimately, it seems, would likely not be as much a Dell problem as perhaps an Intel, or other component, problem.

Even though it may not be a direct Dell problem, it sure like it would be a problem they would be interested in resolving -- if possible. On the other hand, it is sure within the realm of possibility that they (and-or Intel or others) really do know the cause and simply have no way to fix it, sans large (expensive) recalls. The old original pentium problem comes to mind. Of course, their take would likely be that it is not their problem if some programs were not fully functional or useable on their equipment.
