What I still puzzle over is why a field general was on the Hill in the first place defending a war policy and talking troop strength - where the HELL are the Joint Chiefs of Staff, isn't this THEIR job? Don't they make the troop strength calls, or are we now leaving this up to generals in the fields? Iraq is Petraeus' "office", of course he wants the troops to stay - can we now expect generals from every country the US is in to appear on the Hill to defend their calls for more troops? Again, isn't it the job of the Joint Chiefs to coordinate EVERY area our military is involved in??? Could it be the Joint Chiefs do not agree with The Decider's policy?
And for Petraeus to comment at the hearings that the WH did not see/edit his testimony is beyond belief! We now have field generals coming to the Hill to testify as to the troop strength they need and we are expected to believe the WH has no idea what they are going to say! Either this is a lie, or we ALL should be asking...who the HELL is running this country?
