I didn't say the board would "fold". I said it would contribute to helping the board be run more consistently and more efficiently.

You surely know, as anyone who has moderated or assisted, that humans see things differently. What one person would allow, another wouldn't on a myriad of things that might be just over the OT line or just under it, just over the personal attack line or just under it, etc. Even if the priviledge was just the moderator, it would be an advantage. He/she is in charge and should have the ability to communicate to his/her assistants IMO.
