Semi - I don't think you'll get much argument here that AMD leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to marketing and, apparently now, distributor support as well.

Semi,
I completely agree that historically AMD has been self-defeating in regards to marketing. I noticed a small increase in their marketing dollars but this isn't nearly enough. The product is good but they definitely lack mind share. This is where Intel really kicks major ass.

That one took *ME* 2 seconds to think up.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to come up with your 15-20% IPC increase prediction?

The mature markets are exactly where AMD should be pushing the A64. The emerging markets don't have the money for high-end chips.

(This took me <2.00 seconds to think up.)

Re: Sounds PO'd at AMD Marketing efforts.

AMD's sales were up 100% year on year in that market.

The author quotes resellers upset that they aren't receiving enough incentives (kickbacks?) for selling AMD parts, and that margins are too low.

Resellers assemble machines and then put a price on them. Their margins are up to them.

I think these are some of the guys who used to get Durons for $25 and now want Athlon XPs for the same price.

Not gonna happen. Doesn't need to happen.

Let them try to make inexpensive boxes out of Prescotts....

It's going to be interesting to see what happens when prescotts are put into cramped cases with cheap power supplies.
