I believe the market makers make their money in the difference between bid and ask from .0003 to .0002 that is 33.3333% everytime someone sells and someone buys. I think the shorters are big money players hedge funds and the like.
People like us wouldn't be allowed to naked short. We would have to borrow the shares and cover any losses or our positions would be liquidated for us.
