michael03332002: Starting around the beginning of Aug volume for SDS finally ramped up to make it liquid enough for "yours truly".

Now one can hedge an SPX position in the same account without having to resort to options or futures by using the SPY and SDS. I've begun using the SDS in lue of shorting the SPY.

While the SDS is marketed as a 2X short to the SPY, in price change it doesn't seem to quiet get there, but when you take into account the lower per share price, it actually does better than 2X when one uses the same amount of capital to buy the SDS as one would use to short the SPY.

One can lower the 2X risk of the SDS when one wants by simply buying fewer shares.
