Police and fire protection are not socialized, they are paid by real estate taxes against the property being protected, usually a specific identified component of real estate taxes. Additionally, some property owners buy private protection, and some rural areas use voluntary fire departments.
Health care costs are about 16% of GDP and growing. There is little likelihood of a national health care system being established. In most places, all children are entitled to free health care if their parents can't provide, same for pregnant women. The sticking point is that most Americans seem opposed to providing any kind of assistance to adult males and non pregnant adult women.
As the population ages, the problem grows more acute. It's not just medical care, it's dental care. Look at lower income adults in your area. I see a lot of middle aged people and older people missing teeth. Gum disease is associated with many health problems. Yearly dental checkups and cleanings are essential but are out of reach for the lowest stratas of our society.
