good post Paul....I listened to Jobs today and I was smitten by all the new toys...But there are those that hate Apple (and there are a lot of haters out there) because they can these make huge margins. They think that reeks of Job's arrogance or something (or they just don't like successful people because they themselves are stupid fat old and uncool .
And of course there are the geeks who spend their life looking for the same stuff for cheap. And I am sure their tech looks great hanging off the hips of their cheap polyester pants, but there's the rub. It's the haves versus the have nots..Kinda like showing up for work with a dunkin doughnuts pink coffee cup versus a Starbucks. Hey this is is still superficial America!
Been to a business meeting lately? Iphone trumps rolex.
But Steve Jobs has consistently proven himself to be a G force-of creativity and I see no reason to believe this is going to change.And many devotees are willing to pay up for that. Go to an apple store. You can smell it.
I -think aaple is going to be fine these next two quarters..rollout in Eurotrashville in Q4 , the Imacs ..those sexy PC category killers....the apple addicts will have plenty of supply...after that, it all depends on the recession and if Bernanke gets a free iphone:)
And yes, Jobs may be a god but he still has to deal with such boring little earthly details like the economy, wars, and Hillary's tax threat...
