Here is the republican party's worst nightmare if it persists. Can you say Mark Foley II:

I dont understand your logic.

Being treated for a stroke shouldnt be a right granted to you by the Government. Lets take a guy who drinks a fifth of whiskey every night and smokes 2 packs a day and has done so for 30 years. Where in the Constitution does it say it is now the Governments problem? (Our problem)

Where is accountabliity for ones own actions and personal responsibility? It lies with the individual, not the state.

I see you are not getting my MAIN point.

It can only become the Governments problem when they pass laws that put limits on our behavior. If and when they mandate social medicine, they will also mandate personal behavior.

I am pro choice...are you? I want freedom to exercise my right to do what I want with my body.

Socialized Medicine will make your body property of the State. They will determine what is a "legitimate" treatment and what is not. Your choices in treatment will be limited. You will be told what you can eat and what activities you can participate in. Basically they will hold a gun to your head and demand that if you dont do X, Y, and Z you will go to the back of the line.

Comparing Law enforcement to health care is a bogus argument. Under your reasoning, all food should be free and paid by the Government, as well as water, shelter and pre-paid funeral services, since we are all going to die.
