thats pretty average for broker assisted (over the phone) trades but if that's the online commission then you got hosed. some brokers also charge a certain % of the trade for stocks under a certain share price (penny stocks). I use ChoiceTrade and have been very happy with them with the exception of not giving me my DVFA shares in a timely manner.
