>I have to say this is one of the most unappetizing presidential elections in recent history. The Democrats are only marginally more appealing than the Republicans...and that's coming from a Democrat.<

Still, most of our candidates are better than Chávez, Kirschner, and Lula da Silva, although I’m not sure about Lula.

Not to get political here, and I would never promote a political party over another one, b/c I don't believe either of 'em, but if the choice is between Rudy and Hillary who are both, IMHO, not the most appealing folks, a guy like Bloomberg or some other third party guy could actually win. I think the voter disgust for congress and the wh is at an all time high, so there would be a unique possibility of a third party or 'none of the above' person to win. I've read about Bloomberg and Charles Hagel on an independent ticket stressing competance and getting out of Iraq. That combination could spell trouble for Hillary and Rudy. If Obama were nominated, he would win in a landslide, but Hillary clearly has her loyalists within the party. Interestingly, Rudy, despite all of his 'personal stuff' and social views, has remained on top in the GOP, so it looks like a Rudy vs. Hillary fight. Bloomberg would be pro-investment as would Rudy, but I fear Rudy will self-destruct.
