Bbig difference between discount rate abd fed funds rate, so either raise discount rates, thereby signifying banking crisis is under control, or cut fed funds rate 50 basis points and lie like hell to the publuc and say everything is just great and we are just cutting 50 basis points becuase our subtraction skillss are better thann our addition skills. Oonly way get a 50 basis point cut is if we see some horrible data and a big drop in markets.(JMHO) CHUBBIE
