We were hit head on by Rita. Good thing is, we evacuated. Bad thing was we had taken in thousands of Katrina people and everyone left at the same time. 19 hours later we made it out but my parents were lost somewhere on the road out of gas and no way to find them. When we got back two weeks later it was like a military zone. Our house was spared but most of the houses around us were in bad shape. The house behind us was moved off the slab. Two years later there is still blue plastic on roofs. The place where I work requested 55 million for repairs, we got 150k. When I was younger I stayed during any storm but now I'm older and wiser. I wouldn't have wanted to stay during Rita.
